Turning Point is our fancy name for Pathway's high school youth group. For more about the group, here's a word from our Pastor to Students and our Director of Student Ministries:
We know that God has called us to minister to young people. The unique aspect of our ministry is that God has called us to minister as a team to the young people we encounter on a daily basis.
Being passionate about helping young people develop a close and authentic relationship with Jesus is what this group is about. There is a freedom in Christ that is like no other thing in this world. That freedom and joy is what this group desires to share with those around them. The purpose of Turning Point is to seek to combine the needs of our youth the the will of God.
The heart of Turning Point is to be where God is and to be doing the work He wants us to do. Most importantly, this group is always looking for opportunities to share their faith. Come see what's happening.
Here's a few things we do regularly:
Sunday Small Groups
This is a time for students to get connected with other students their own age. We divide up by grade level to help the large group feel smaller. Students receive Bible-based teaching and a chance for small group discussion with their peers. This is a great way to create deep relationships and feel a sense of significance. Small groups meet at 9:00am during first service.
Mid-Week Youth Service
Turning Point is designed for all to feel welcome and included. It is a non-threatening, coffee-house environment. There are games, videos, music, and life-relevant messages. This is a perfect time for Christian students to bring their un-churched friends. Turning Point meets every Tuesday night at 7:00pm in "The Underground."
Special Events
We've got tons of stuff going on all the time. There's always some special event, retreat, or community outreach to give students an opportunity to bring friends. Check out upcoming events in our Calendar Section.
I Graduated from Redlands High School in 1996. GO TERRIERS!!!
I married Heather in 2001. We had our first daughter, Delaney, in 2005, and in 2010 Adelaide came along.
In 2004 I answered a call that God placed on my heart to enter into full-time ministry. I started in youth ministry in 2005. In 2008, we entered into full-time mission service for a two-year term, where we served in Finland.
I graduated with a B.S. in Religion from Liberty University in 2010, and it looks like Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary has my name written all over it.
I have a passion for youth ministry and mission work. I believe that the youth are the future of the Church, and by discipling and equipping them, they will be the future leaders of the Church.
Joining the group is free!
There are a few events that may cost a few bucks (and a few, like camps, that cost more). If there's funding, there may be scholarships for these events. We can probably work something out.
1Pray
It is amazing that most of us do not know that there really is power in prayer. It is vital that we seek God for wisdom and discernment when encouraging your son or daughter to get connected in our student ministries.
2Make a connection with our staff
Please come and introduce yourself to our youth staff. We would love to meet you.
3Encourage Your Teen
Encourage your son or daughter to get involved. They need your encouragement to get connected with other students their age. There are many opportunities for them to meet new people and to bring their friends. We want them to feel comfortable and we will assist with that any way we can.
4Join the team!
We are always looking for people who want to be a part of the team. Come and talk to us or give us a call.
